oh my god did i get my ass kicked in yoga last night.
everyone should do yoga. makes you feel so good and healthy. if they dropped the spirituality and just concentrated on mind-body connection and health, it would be a lot more palatable to most.
i was reminded again how, even though i've been doing a certain pose for years now, i can learn things that make the pose so much more effective. i think this has to do with the way each pose builds to another (between poses, simply evolving into another expression of its self, like everything, eh?).
this led me to think about personal change. i came to the thought that you can't change who you are, but through a series of smaller, easier decisions, you can evolve yourself into what you would more like to be. it has to be gradual or it won't stick. your mind self has to train your animal (body) self how to be what you'd like to be. it works like yoga or martial arts; gradually. but, as with yoga and martial arts, it is necessary to keep your goal in mind at all times, for the path is easily strayed from.
the most important thing to me is that we all have input into our own paths. too many people look outside themselves to try to see the path they should take. you have the ability to know yourself like no one else can. use that to find your own path. there is no ideal that fits everyone.
peace
